David Llewellyn Child, U. K.
David is an actor and director for English Stage Theatre which was founded with the intention of playing to audiences across Europe using limited resources and adapting to any given setting. It was the first professional English language theatre company in Holland. His directorial debut was In Camera by Jean-Paul Sartre back in 1995 and it was this philosophical approach to theatre that led him to study works by Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard . Acting credits include roles in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Henry V with the British Shakespeare Company, Hamlet at the Redgrave Theatre and Romeo & Juliet performed at the Edinburgh Fringe. Directing credits for English Stage include Just Passing Through, The Fever and Nowhere Here all performed in Prague and Belgium. The focus this year is on performing and devising educational workshops to schools and theatre academies.
Actors Exploration
Sometimes it's easy for an actor to work within the realms of his/her comfort zone. This workshop has been devised for actors to challenge themselves by working on a wide range of exercises that enable fluidity and focus. This includes improvisation and freedom of movement. Using characters from 'Dream' and presenting them in a different environment allows for a greater depth of understanding of the play and its intentions while at the same time freeing the actors desire to explore their own contribution to the performance. These exercises help free the actor into playing a part with freedom and expression without rules and limitations. The greatest thing that an actor can portray is intention and emotion as both deliver the energy needed to carry an audience. This will be the core of the workshop and ultimately the theme.
