Milka Panayotova, Bulgaria/Italy
Milka is a performance maker and visual artist. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy in 2006. Along her artistic practice, she has pursued a voyage on the language of movement by following and participating in courses, workshops and festivals on dance and theatre, extending her practice to performance. In 2010 she graduated from her MA in Theatre: Visual Language of Performance in London, where she concentrated her research on the possibilities of direct communication between performer and audience, with particular attention to the human senses and body memory. She has created and presented performance work in Italy, England and Greece.
She is currently living in Ferrara (Italy), with her husband and two children, juggling her time between artistic collaborations, working on a life time site specific project called Live Cracks, teaching workshops to both adults and children.
Transforming movement, from spaces to places
Through experimental anatomy and contact participants will test their body awareness and venture upon the possibilities of physical expression. By exercising the use of the senses to initiate movement, we'll eventually create a small choreography, a pattern of moving within the space. Constantly renewing our perceptions by moving together and bringing different elements in, we'll allow our choreography become more liquid and open to transformation.
Looking at site-specific work, we will take a little journey in the vicinities of TOC. What happens if we performed our dance outside? Would we only transform these places using them as a stage or can they transform our work too?
We'll choose a place where to gather information, both audio-visually and tactually. Applying the discoveries made in the first stage of creating indoors, we'll undertake a variety of experiments and bring the choreographies created to the chosen place, letting the place transform the work.
