Hunter has been Involved in the arts for nearly four decades. She holds a PHD in Theatre Philosophy, an MA Sociology/Criminology, a BA Cultural Anthropology, and a BAA Radio and Television. Hunter is a Physical Lecoqian Pedagogy of 26 years, a Humanitarian Clown 23 years, and an Indi film Stuntman for 37 years. She is the Director and principle instructor of The Hunter Gates Academy, President Comedy for Communities International, VP of the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, Director RiseUp Society Alberta and on the board for Empowering Women Entrepreneurs. Hunter’s students have performed mask, puppetry, cirque, stage combat, devised theatre and in theatre festivals and plays around the world.She is an international teacher and lecturer. This is her second time teaching at the Theatre of Change.
Tragedy Within
Discovering the triggers and drive of tragic works. Through the exploration of the seven levels of tension and the five stages of a passion, participants will be able to dissect the journey of theatrical characters both in established and new devised works. This thoughtful and provoking physical exploration will have you on your feet and moving to the foundational rhythm of tragedy.
Find out how each piece of the ensemble contributes to propel works to their inevitable conclusion creating a heartfelt and impactful piece that historically solidifies the mask of tragedy in the theatre around the world. This workshop will ground you in thought and action as we look at how tension escalates within each and every one of us and how that amplifies when we find ourselves within like-minded groups.
