Tyrie K.Rowell, South Carolina, U.S.A. 2024

Tyrie K. Rowell is an Adjunct Professor of Technical Theatre, Technical Director, and Financial Aid Coordinator at USC Lancaster. He currently holds a Master of Fine Arts with a Performance Creation Concentration (Goddard College), and a Bachelor of Arts with Leadership Distinctions in Professional and Civic Engagement (University of South Carolina). Mr. Rowell is a theatre performing artist, that sees himself as a storyteller; where he is most focused on the creation of characters that use the body, space, and language to identify with the theatre making process.
He breathes life and truth into his work. The words on his pages are his life, and the characters he portrays whether fictional or non-fictional, are his medium. A work of art like his, cannot choose its creator; the creator chooses the work. He is drawn to politics and social justice. These inspire him to create work from the perspective of Black Americans, and how their history can be used to amplify their voices on a major stage. His work is grounded in realism, but not bound by it.
The Inner Mastery through Movement
Are you ready to feel the beat and move to the rhythm of the streets? This workshop is designed for dancers of all levels, from beginners with no prior experience to seasoned dancers looking to expand their repertoire. This immersive and dynamic workshop will be deep-rooted in connections to the community of dance.
The students will have an opportunity to create a choreography dance from movement that they have created. This will provide the participants with a new and critical perspective on movement, but it will also explore how movement can tell a story.
