The Street is The Theater! an adventure in site-specific performance

There is great power in disrupting business as usual with public artistic acts of self-expression.   We will learn street theater techniques for drawing focus, moving as an ensemble, creating striking images, playing with creative impulse and how to communicate meaningful narrative in simple concrete forms that will convey your message to the public in "the streets". Through devising exercises and discussion, we will explore stories and issues that resonate with the local participants and then we will venture nearby outside for quick adventurous performance walks and create new pieces using the landscape and physical environment to inform the content.

Monica has taught Street Performance in the US and across the globe, including Mexico, France, Egypt, Austria, Greece, Sri Lanka and India and has adapted to the many different legal and physical terrains for a multitude of manifestations in public.
